You're role
The VP of Communications leads YPFP’s strategic communications, ensuring brand consistency and proper logo usage. They manage HQ social media accounts and the Global Envoy newsletter, oversee HQ communications volunteers and branch communications leaders, provide training and support for special opportunities such as the Y20/Y7 Summits, and promote initiatives like the Rising Experts Program and wargaming.
What you'll do
Responsibilities:
Creating and disseminating Global Envoy newsletter on a biweekly basis.
Checking in with branch communications directors on regular basis and holding 1:1 calls and all-team calls as needed.
Collecting social media analytics from branch communications teams on quarterly basis.
Training new volunteers on how to use Wild Apricot and other relevant platforms.
Promoting and highlighting events in collaboration with branches.
Organizing and hosting professional development webinars for volunteers.
Attending weekly KPI and huddle calls for YPFP leadership.
Attending quarterly/yearly YPFP retreats/trainings with the YPFP board.
Assisting with grant identification/ application/ review.
Social media management.
Content creation for social media (member spotlights, etc.)
Targeted outreach to membership via email blasts, etc.
Provides support to branches on promoting vacancies.
Identifies partnership opportunities.
Ensures consistent branding practices and appropriate use of logo.
How you'll do it
Desired skills include knowledge of Salesforce and other similar platforms, as well as experience with newsletter-creation. This role includes a stipend.
What you'll bring
Must have experience leading communications strategy, including overseeing brand development and implementation. Must also have knowledge of social media management and content creation, as well as analytics tracking. Preference for Washington, DC-based candidates, however, all locations will be considered. Must be able to dedicate at least 10-15 hours per week.

At YPFP, all roles are part-time and volunteer-based. Our organization is powered by a passionate, mission-driven team of young professionals who contribute their time and talents to make foreign policy more accessible, inclusive, and dynamic. Volunteers typically commit 5–10 hours per month and take on leadership roles that offer real responsibility, creative freedom, and professional growth.
While these positions are unpaid, the experience is invaluable—volunteers gain access to a global network, develop high-impact skills, and help shape the direction of one of the world’s most influential youth-led foreign policy organizations.
All branch roles are fully remote. However, it is highly valuable for volunteers to be based in or near their branch city to engage with local partnerships and attend in-person events when possible. The Global (Virtual) Branch is the exception—it welcomes candidates from anywhere in the world.
