You're role
The Communications Director will join our the YPFP: LA leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing our social media strategy to increase the online presence of YPFP:LA, improve brand visibility, boost membership, and increase member engagement with branch events.
What you'll do
Recruiting, training, and leading volunteers who will serve on the YPFP:LA Branch Communications team;
Co-Lead all Communications team meetings.
Working proactively with the Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, the rest of the YPFP:LA Leadership Team, other YPFP branches, YPFP HQ, and external contacts on event promotion and various other initiatives.
Creating graphics and other social media content that adheres to YPFP branding.
Managing YPFP:LA social media pages and driving strategic communication initiatives that connect and empower our global community of emerging foreign policy professionals;
Must have excellent written and spoken English skills.
Report all branch communications figures and activities to the Communications Fellow; Establish and meet KPIs tied to branch communications, among other tasks.

Experience in Communications-related tasks (social media, outreach, partnerships, etc.)

The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking strategist with proven experience in communications leadership, who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. The Deputy Director is expected to have an excellent understanding and experience with Communications, and have some experience managing projects and working in and leading small teams. This position is an unpaid, volunteer role.

While these positions are unpaid, the experience is invaluable—volunteers gain access to a global network, develop high-impact skills, and help shape the direction of one of the world’s most influential youth-led foreign policy organizations.

All branch roles are fully remote. However, it is highly valuable for volunteers to be based in or near their branch city to engage with local partnerships and attend in-person events when possible. The Global (Virtual) Branch is the exception—it welcomes candidates from anywhere in the world.
