Join YPFP DC and YPFP Toronto for a virtual panel exploring the evolving landscape of space diplomacy and Canada-US relations. Speakers, Dr. Michael Byers and Charity Weeden, will discuss the intersection of international law, defense, and security cooperation in outer space, followed by an audience Q&A.
Dr. Michael Byers is Co-Director of the Outer Space Institute and Professor of Global Politics and International Law at the University of British Columbia. Previously, he has served as a Fellow at Jesus College, Oxford University, a Professor of Law at Duke University, and a Visiting Professor at universities across South Africa, Israel, Norway, Russia, Scotland, and Switzerland. He is the author of Who Owns Outer Space? and International Law and the Arctic, both published by Cambridge University Press.
Charity Weeden is a former Associate Administrator of NASA's Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy and a 23-year veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. She has previously served as Vice President for Global Space Policy at Astroscale U.S., Senior Director of Policy at the Satellite Industry Association, and as a Canadian Embassy staff officer for air and space operations.
The chat will feature a moderated discussion followed by a Q&A session for members.
