
Bio
Lauren is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of International Business and Economics at Sophia University and a Ph.D. Candidate in International Relations and Researcher at the University of Tokyo. She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in International Relations from the University of Tokyo. Her work focuses on the nexus between human rights, participatory democracy, and international global governance norms with particular emphasis on gender equality and AI governance.
Lauren is also the Founder and Advisor for Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Tokyo, a youth-led, youth-focused NGO that fosters international, inclusive, and intergenerational dialogue on pivotal issues for Japan and the world.
Lauren began her work with the G20 and G7 Summits by serving as the Youth20 (Y20) Head Delegate for the 2020 Saudi Presidency. She was a Women7 (W7) Advisor on gender equality and a Civil7 (C7) Co-Chair on digital democracy for the 2023 G7 Hiroshima Summit and has been a Women20 (W20) Delegate on gender equality in the Delegation of the United States to the G20 Summit since 2023. She served as a Co-Chair for the Women in STEM Working Group for G20 Brazil (2023) and Co-Chair of the Education, STEAM, AI and Digital Working Group for G20 USA (2026). Lauren has co-authored policy briefs under the Think Tank 20 (T20) engagement group for the G20 Summit on digital regulation.
Lauren’s previous research includes work at the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Sasakawa Peace Foundation (SPF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Journal for Human Security Studies. Lauren has also contributed to projects with UN-OHCHR, UNICEF, UN-ESCAP, UN-MGCY, and YOUNGO.
