Bio
Helix Lo is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Tokyo, specialising in comparative politics with a focus on Japan and East Asia. His research interests include youth politics, political behaviour, political psychology, democratic backsliding, human rights, and education policy. His recent research projects investigate how democratisation and/or democratic backsliding may influence political systems and policies, particularly in relation to the exercise of free will and political participation. His work employs a wide range of methods, including historical, discourse, and quantitative analysis. Some of his work has been published in international peer-reviewed journals.
