Statement on COVID-19
The Y7 Summit from June 3-5, 2020, has been transitioned to a virtual event.
Due to the ongoing and rapidly changing situation around COVID-19, YPFP is implementing certain policies in the interest of ensuring the safety of our community. In support of social distancing, we have decided to transition all gatherings to virtual events, postponing those not suited to virtual participation. Consistent with this notion, YPFP has transitioned the 2020 Y7 Summit to a virtual summit rather than a location-based summit. This decision is made out of an abundance of care and caution while we continue to monitor the situation.
The dates of the Summit have not changed. To accommodate this format transition, the Summit will take place in small chunks of time between June 3 and June 5. Summit delegates will still be participating in talks with government officials and community leaders. Delegates have received more detailed information on the new format and YPFP is working closely to ensure youth voices are heard in this confusing and unsettling time.
YPFP is also exploring options to bring 2020 Y7 Summit delegates to Washington, DC for a celebratory event once COVID-19 has been deemed under control by public health professionals. Provisionally, this event will take place in the Fall of 2020.
The health and safety of everyone participating in the Summit are our biggest priorities as we navigate these uncharted waters. Thank you for understanding, and please feel free to reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns.
