Main takeaways:

  • The invited guests have very different academic backgrounds, motivations to come to Brussels and career developments, how they got their current positions.
  • The career path of every person is very diverse and the most important thing is to be passionate and motivated to work in a specific field.
  • Career talks are very helpful, for speakers and attendees to have a constructive discussion and exchange vies and ideas about different topics.

On July 14th, YPFP hosted a ToT evenet about “Career opportunities within the EU institutions“ at the Sisters Cafè Brussels. The event was moderated by Sophia Giovanett, Programmes Officer at YPFP Brussels. Sophia welcomed young professionals working at the EU institutions in Brussels (European CommissionEuropean Parliament and Council of the European Union), who shared their professional journey, as well as tips on the application process. Attendees had the chance to ask questions about the work of EU civil servants in a range of different policy areas, such as research and technology, social affairs, migration, and energy.

After a short introduction and presentation of the guests by the moderator, the guests gave short introduction about themselves. It was followed by an interactive session where the guests joined the tables of the participants which gave them the opportunity for a direct exchange.
