YPFP DC: Inauguration Day of Service

Posted on January 28, 2013

On Saturday, January 19, 2013, 14 YPFP members volunteered at the 2013 Yes We Can: End Illiteracy service event, at Malcolm X Elementary School in Southeast Washington, DC. The event was hosted in collaboration with Capital Cause and the National Urban League Young Professionals. Volunteers helped to wrap gifts, read books on camera, film videos for students to read along with, and paint murals. The school was extremely grateful for our time and it was a tremendous opportunity for YPFP and YPFP in the Classroom to give back to our community in honor of President Obama's second inauguration and the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. — 2013 Inauguration/MLK Jr. Weekend Day of Service
