YPFP Brussels Successfully Launches Ambassador Series Events

Posted on June 11, 2012

In May 2012, YPFP Brussels successfully kicked off the Ambassador Series in the heart of Europe at the Australian Embassy.  The series, which is also a feature of the Washington DC and London YPFP branches, was given a brilliant start by H.E. Ambassador Dr Brendan Nelson, Australian Ambassador to the European Union on May 8. Over 30 YPFP members attended the exclusive event, consisting of a keynote speech followed by a discussion. Ambassador Nelson was impressed by the quality of YPFP contributions, and he has extended an invitation for an intimate reception at the Ambassadors’ Residence this autumn.

“The idea of the Ambassador Series, and exclusive events, is new in YPFP Brussels,” explains Tonio Gaida, Associate Director of Programming in Brussels, and the organizer of the Ambassador Series.

“We are very grateful to the Australian Embassy for supporting us, and offering our paying members direct access to the Ambassador, and to Dr Nelson himself for giving a very engaging and entertaining look at Australian foreign policy in the EU,” he added.

The YPFP BXL team intends to offer paid members a chance to engage with a different ambassador each month – with future events planned at the Cypriot Embassy and the United Kingdom Embassy to Belgium.

Any members with suggestions for ambassadors they would like to meet are welcome to get in touch with the programming team by emailing brussels@ypfp.org.
