United Nations Foundation 2013 Social Good Summit - Foreign Language Fellow

YPFP is partnering with the United Nations Foundation (UNF) on the 2013 Social Good Summit in New York City on September 22-24. This year’s Summit, held during UN week, focuses on the power of social media, innovation, and technology to solve our world's greatest issues. YPFP is assembling a select group of Foreign Language Fellows to cover the event via real-time blogging, tweeting, and on-the-ground interviewing.

Call for Applications:

We are looking for fellows interested in making a lasting mark in shaping and influencing the global dialogue on development, innovation, and technology through live tweeting and blogging from the summit in the UN languages (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Chinese) and Hebrew.  You do not have to be a native speaker of the foreign language to apply. 

Why apply to be a Foreign Language Fellow?

As a foreign language fellow at the 2013 Social Good Summit, you will:

  • Have access to the UNF's 2013 Social Good Summit (Sep 22-24)

  • Participate in high level briefings and breakfasts.

  • Meet-and-greet with the event organizers.

  • Have a chance to be published on the Social Good Summit blog, with the chance for your content to reach an international audience through UNF and YPFP.

  • Conduct interviews and network with change-makers, thought-leaders, other industry-leading bloggers and summit participants.

  • One year membership to YPFP.

How to apply?

To apply, please email jason.bilog@ypfp.org your:

  • Your CV/Resume.

  • A short description on why you would like to attend the UN Foundation Social Good Summit, written IN ENGLISH (200 words maximum).

  • Your personal reflection on how you think innovation and digital technology can influence social change, written IN YOUR FOREIGN LANGUAGE (400 words maximum)

  • A blog post written IN YOUR FOREIGN LANGUAGE (If you have never written a blog post, you can substitute with a 250 word essay)

  • Your professional hands/names used on any of the following networks: Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, Youtube, Flickr, Instagram, Tumblr, Storify (If you do not have one you can still apply!)


  • Complete application by deadline.

  • Professional fluency in Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Chinese or Hebrew (demonstrated in your application).

  • Ability to attend all three days of the summit in its entirety.

  • Ability to live-tweet and post throughout the event in real-time.

  • Interest in YPFP's mission to foster the next generation of foreign policy leaders.

DEADLINE: applications must be received by 5pm EDT on Friday, September 6th.
