Posted on September 10, 2013

In 2011, Young Professionals in Foreign Policy and The Diplomatic Courier magazine jointly launched the first ever Top 99 Foreign Policy Leaders Under 33, a special project that captures the extraordinary impact that 99 diverse Millennials under the age of 33 are making on international affairs.

Now in its third year, the 2013 “Top 99 Under 33” honorees showcase the creativity, determination, and passion of the young people who are already tackling the world's critical global challenges. Their profiles highlight the breadth and diversity of young change-makers: this year’s list features Millennials from 37 countries, and it encompasses attorneys, financiers, technologists, journalists, bankers, activists, and scientists—as well as diplomats, soldiers, and other government officials. The 2013 honorees reflect that global leaders make 21st century foreign policy, and that today—more than any other time in history—the foreign policy leader of the future is an entrepreneur.

The Millennial generation has a deep responsibility to deliver new ideas, new approaches, and new solutions to the world’s toughest challenges. The 2013 Top 99 Under 33 tells a story of diverse young people who are choosing to lead now—setting the bar high for the rest of our generation. Foreign policy is not just about countries and governments; it is about people, networks, and innovations. The 2013 Top 99 Under 33 honorees prove that.
