The Asia Society is generously offering YPFP members 15 free tickets to its event, "'Us vs. Them: The Failure of Globalism' With Ian Bremmer," a $50 value.
The struggle over globalization is perhaps the defining tension of our time, dividing those who believe in its promise and those who see mostly peril. Champions of globalization have promised a world of free trade, freedom of movement, and universally embraced liberal values. However, the past few years have seen a pushback from those who feel that a more globalized system has threatened their way of life. In many parts of the world, globalization’s opponents have framed the debate as a battle for the future that pits “us” vs. “them,” venting their fury at political, media, and corporate elites while supporting populist and nationalist politicians.
This debate is the centerpiece of a new book by Ian Bremmer, who joins the Hon. Kevin Rudd to explore how governments are responding to this global wave of populism. Where will that wave lead? How long might it last? Who will be the winners and losers in this climate?
Please note that this is not a YPFP-hosted nor sponsored event. We are sharing this event with our members for their benefit.
