On June 23rd, 2016, the people of the United Kingdom will be voting in a referendum on whether or not to remain in reformed European Union. Following months of national debate, in which pro-EU campaigners are supporting the idea that the UK will have greater political influence and economic benefits by remaining in the Union, while pro-Brexit campaigners are insisting that the ability to operate with looser ties with the rest of Europe, will entail gaining both wider political influence and economic advantages, most polls are still too close to call.
A week before the referendum, YPFP Brussels has the pleasure of asking a key young Member of the European Parliament Seb Dance MEP on what the outcome of the UK referendum means for young people - whether the vote is for the UK to remain or leave the EU. Seb Dance will share his views on Britain's role in the EU as well as reflect on the long-term implications of the Brexit debate for a generation of young people and how young people can be encouraged to engage more in key political debates like the referendum.
