On April 4, 2013, a room full of foreign policy wonks paged through a current events magazine produced for middle school students. The attendees were not trying to relive any glory days; they were at a documentary film screening sponsored by the Foreign Policy Association, Scholastic and YPFP NY. Scholastic opened the night with an introduction to the aforementioned magazine they produce in conjunction with the Foreign Policy Association.
The documentary, “The Intervention Calculation,” is a collaboration between the Foreign Policy Association and Scholastic as a part of their “Great Decisions” series. The film features a recent YPFP NY lecturer Ian Bremmer of the Eurasia Group and other experts such as Anne-Marie Slaughter, Donald Rumsfeld and Hillary Clinton giving their thoughts on why the United States has intervened internationally in some cases and not others. The screening was followed by a Q&A session led by Foreign Affairs Managing Editor Jonathan Tepperman and Washington Post and Foreign Policy Magazine UN Correspondent Colum Lynch.
