The future of the European Union: How to tackle euroscepticism?

With anti-EU sentiments on the rise in many European countries and the European Parliament seeking a growing rise in eurosceptic representatives, with studies saying around 20% of MEPs are from parties which support dissolution of the EU, how can euroscepticism be tackled? What does the future of the European project look like?

YPFP members are invited to ask their questions and discuss with Sir Graham Watson, the President of the ALDE Party, a pan-European and pro-European political party consisting of over 60 liberal parties around Europe. He will give a brief overview of the situation in Europe from a liberal perspective and speak about how to combat euroscepticism.

Sir Graham Watson has been President of the ALDE Party since 2011 and member of the European Parliament for the South West of England and Gibraltar from 1994-2014. He is the former leader of the liberal MEPs in the European Parliament from 2002 to 2009 and was the first British Liberal Democrat to be declared elected to the European Parliament. He was awarded a knighthood in the Queen's birthday honours in October 2011 and is the Honorary President of the global Climate Parliament. He has recently published his tenth book “Continental Drift: Liberal letters from the European Parliament 2009-2014”.
