After the end of the Cold War, some proclaimed the 'end of history' or our 'unipolar moment.' Nearly two decades later, we've discovered that the world is far more complex. Challenges to American power have arisen in unlikely quarters – sometimes among America's closest allies – and globalization has spawned a host of challenges along with the expected opportunity and prosperity.
