YPFP Disruptor: Syrian Situation Room

Ever wondered what it would be like to be a key player on the world stage making history-altering decisions in response to a rapidly unfolding and volatile situation among the world’s super powers?  Now is your chance to step into the Situation Room and help determine the course of history.

YPFP is teaming up with Mark Pfeifle, a former member of President George W. Bush’s National Security Council, where he served as the Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, Press and Speechwriting, to bring you a live action, crisis response simulation.

When: Wednesday, October 11th 7:00 – 8:30 PM

Where: The International Student House

This simulation will involve the competing nation states of the United States, Syria, and Russia, as well as the mediating body of the United Nations, mitigating a scenario that aircraft from the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad’s regime reportedly dropped barrel bombs containing an unknown chemical weapons substance that is causing reported respiratory problems among the civilian population.

How will these major players in the lengthy and volatile Syrian crisis respond to this constantly developing situation?  You will decide their course of action, in order to bring about the best case scenario in response to a decision that could put the world on the path to World War III.

Event Flow:

Attendees will be randomly divided into four groups that will represent either the United States, Russia, Syria, or the United Nations. Once in your group, you will decide upon who will be the leaders of your group and represent your country and ideas at the discussion table, which will be moderated by Mr. Pfeifle. Throughout the event, we will be providing you with Breaking News Updates that could alter the course of the situation at hand. Come prepared to problem solve on the spot, and be ready to debate your ideas. The fate of the world could depend upon the decisions that your country makes.

YPFP Disruptor: If we’re going to change the world, then NextGen leaders are going to have to bring fresh ideas and solutions to the table. YPFP’s Disruptor series gives you unique opportunities to hear from true innovators and insiders who understand exactly where the establishment went wrong, and how NextGeners can make innovative change for the future.
