Secretary General European Movement International (EMI) Brussels, Belgium

The Organisation:
Established in 1948, the European Movement is the oldest and largest pan- and pro-European civil
society network, gathering a total of 76 Members (national councils and international associations),
working in 47 European states. It seeks to encourage and facilitate the active participation of citizens
and civil society organisations in the development of a united Europe.
The Secretary General Position:
The role of the Secretary General is to advocate for, and communicate the interests of the European
Movement at the European level to key stakeholders including policy-makers, civil society,organisation and the media.

                                                                                          
The Secretary General is in charge of the daily management of the association.
The Secretary General reports to the Federal Assembly and the Board, which gives the guidelines on all activities of the EMI.
The Successful Candidate:
The EMI is seeking a hands-on Secretary General with a proven track record in EU Public Affairs and networking.
The successful candidate will be a strategic leader able to help shape and embrace the vision of a
united Europe and an excellent people manager who can motivate and harness the full potential of the
multi-national staff in the secretariat. He/she will be a strong negotiator and communicator able to
handle internal and external situations with various stakeholders, and speak in public.
The successful candidate will be fluent in English and hold a high-level of competence in French;
knowledge of other languages will be considered a plus.

Interviews with shortlisted candidates will take place at the end of February/beginning of March.
The retained candidate will be recommended by the EMI Board to the EMI Federal Assembly for
appointment. If successful, the selected candidate is expected to start working on July 1st 2015 at the latest.
