As the premier organization for young professionals working in the foreign policy arena, YPFP understands the need to provide its members and the policy community with innovative and impactful thought leadership on pressing foreign policy issues.

Every day, YPFP members around the world are meeting to discuss the most pressing challenges facing our global society. In each of our branch cities and our global presence locations, members organize networking opportunities to provide audiences of young professionals with unprecedented opportunities to learn from prominent foreign policy leaders, industry experts, and their own peers.

YPFP recognizes that our generation is coming of age in a world more complex than ever before. We face global challenges that evolve rapidly, move quickly, and interact in novel ways, creating ever more issues for foreign policy leaders. From traditional geopolitics to the rise of non-state actors, from the accelerating velocity of information flows to the empowerment of individuals by information technology, from the merging of states and markets to the growth of wicked problems, our generation faces a more crowded international environment, lives in a constant state of flux, and is forced to contend with perpetual uncertainty.

This world demands a new type of leader. YPFP recognizes that no single organization, sector, or country acting alone can confront the historic global challenges facing our generation. We understand that in every arena, solutions must be innovative, interdisciplinary, and transnational, depending on an ever-increasing integration of effort among government, the private sector, and civil society. YPFP believes that the foreign policy leader of the future will possess a set of characteristics, skills, and experiences distinct from leaders of the past.

YPFP’s mission – to foster the next generation of foreign policy leaders by providing young professionals the knowledge, skills, exposure, and relationships to tackle critical global challenges over the course of their careers – is about building leaders who will succeed in a complex, interactive world.
