Job Description

This position is responsible for the overall administration and support of the United States Foreign Policy and National Security Program. The Program Coordinator serves as a contact point for all prospective/current students in the US Foreign Policy Program. The incumbent assists Graduate Admissions with recruiting events and outreach efforts to reach program goals.

Job Responsibilities

This position maintains daily office operations and a calendar of deadlines and events for the Director and faculty. The Coordinator helps to develop and update course schedules for the program and to work with other SIS Program Coordinators and the USFP graduate adviser, as well as department administrators in other teaching units, to avoid course duplication and insure adequate curricular coverage. The incumbent is responsible for planning and coordinating the US Foreign Policy Program’s annual and periodic events including symposia, community-building events, lectures by guest speakers, opening dinner, Capstone conferences, and program faculty meetings.  

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree is required.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Three (3) years of administrative experience
  • Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and Internet research techniques
  • Accurate, fast typing skills
  • Intercultural sensitivity and competence dealing with diverse populations
  • Strong communication/writing skills
  • The candidate should be able to perform basic office functions, including the ability to lift items up to 15 pounds

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Experience in a higher educational setting
  • Familiarity with Lotus Notes or similar email clients
  • Familiarity with CommonSpot, InDesign and/or Photoshop for web design and posting
