YPFP Online Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy last revised September 30, 2016.

Your privacy is important to Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (“YPFP”). So, we’ve developed a Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) that covers how we collect, use, share, disclose and store your information. Please carefully read this Privacy Policy and familiarize yourself with our privacy practices regarding your personal information and how we will use it.  This Privacy Policy applies to the YPFP.org site, including mobile sites (collectively, the “Sites”). By visiting the Sites, you consent to the use of your personal information by YPFP as explained in this Privacy Policy.  If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Sites. Your use of the Sites constitutes your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.

Changes and Updates

YPFP may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the date at the top, so be sure to check back periodically to stay aware of any modifications. Your continued use of the Sites after changes have been posted will constitute your acceptance of this Privacy Policy and any changes made to it. In the event of any material changes to this Policy, we will send an email to your address on file, prior to the change becoming effective.

What We Collect

YPFP may ask for and collect from you personally identifiable information at various points throughout the Sites.  You may be asked to provide your name, email address, mailing address, phone number, credit card number, and other similar information.

YPFP may also automatically collect basic technical information from all visitors to the Sites.  YPFP may automatically collect information about how visitors use the Sites, and may use cookies or other similar technologies to help use and compile statistics. This information may include log file information such as Internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, browser language, pages viewed, and the date and time of a visit.  This information helps us improve the functionality of the Sites.

Cookies and other similar technologies

A cookie is a small, sometimes encrypted text file, which is stored on your computer's hard drive (or other device for accessing the Internet) by websites that you visit. Cookies are used, for example, to help users navigate websites efficiently as well as to provide information to the owner of the website. YPFP uses cookies to personalize your online experience. We also utilize the aggregate information from these technologies to research and understand how the Sites are used and how to develop and improve our Sites and services. By continuing to use the Sites, you are agreeing to our use of cookies.

Cookies do not contain any software programs and a cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.  There are two general types of cookies, session cookies and persistent cookies. Session cookies are only used during a session online and will be deleted once you leave a website. Persistent cookies have a longer life and will be retained by the website and used each time you visit a website. Both session and persistent cookies can be deleted by you at anytime through your browser settings. Some browsers allow you to accept or decline cookies by modifying your browser settings, but our Sites do not respond to “do not track” signals. Deleting or disabling cookies may prevent you from taking full advantage of the Sites. For more information on cookies including how to disable cookies, visit allaboutcookies.org. We may allow third parties, like ad networks and servers, to serve customized ads to you. These third parties may use cookies that collect information about your online activities over time and across different web sites when you use our websites and services.

Do Not Track Signals

We do not currently respond to those web browser signals. For more information on Do Not Track, please visit www.allaboutdnt.com.
