Terrorism is one of the most severe challenges to international peace and security. Whether the siren recruitment call to conflict zones by ISIL/Daesh in Syria and Iraq, the scourge of Boko Haram and Al Shabaab in Africa or plots inspired in the heart of Europe, international terrorist groups continue to demonstrate a dynamic threat that impacts millions of lives. As well as countering terrorist attacks, states are increasingly realizing that preventing the uncontrolled spread of extremist incitement, including online, is vital. International action on military, policing, civil society and diplomatic channels — including at the United Nations — remains an essential part of the solution.
In this first of a new series of YPFP NY 21st Century Diplomacy events with the United Kingdom Permanent Mission to the United Nations, UN diplomats will host an interactive dialogue with YPFP members on the current trends, opportunities and challenges in the global fight against terrorism.
Refreshments will be served.
