Mark your calendars for the third meeting of YPFP NY's book club, led by member Miranda Tomic, which will take place on September 18, 2017 — after everyone's back and bronzed. We'll discuss Bill Browder's memoir, Red Notice: A True Story of High Finance, Murder, and One Man’s Fight for Justice. In this New York Times bestseller, Browder, a Wall Street maverick who ran one of the largest investment firms in Russia, becomes an accidental activist after his lawyer, Sergei Magnitsky, is jailed and tortured to death for uncovering a $230 million corruption scheme.
According to Senator John McCain, “In Red Notice, Bill Browder tells the harrowing and inspiring story of how his fight for justice in Russia made him an unlikely international human rights leader and Vladimir Putin's number-one enemy. It is the book for anyone interested in understanding the culture of corruption and impunity in Putin's Russia today, and Browder’s heroic example of how to fight back.”
This month's meeting will take place at Anyway Café, an intimate Russian venue serving infused vodkas, caviar and other fare to the tune of live music.
