U.S.-India relations have expanded since the mid-1990s, accelerating rapidly in recent years. Evan Feigenbaum, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State with principal responsibility for India, will discuss the U.S. strategic interest in India, developments in U.S.-India relations, and prospects for the bilateral agenda.

Evan Feigenbaum is Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs. He was previously the Deputy Assistant Secretary responsible for Central Asia. Before joining the bureau in July 2006, he served from 2001-06 as a Member of the Secretary of State's Policy Planning Staff. Prior to government service, Dr. Feigenbaum worked at Harvard University (1997-2001), where he was a Lecturer on Government in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Executive Director of the Asia-Pacific Security Initiative and Program Chair of the Chinese Security Studies Program in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He also taught at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (1994-95) as Lecturer of National Security Affairs and was a consultant to the RAND Corporation (1993-94). His publications include two books and numerous articles. A native of New York City, Dr. Feigenbaum received his Ph.D. and A.M. in political science from Stanford University and his A.B. in history from the University of Michigan.
