She also serves as attaché and assistant to the ambassador at the Mission of the Sovereign Order of Malta to the United Nations (UN). The Prospect for Mideast Peace: A Conversation with Rashid Khalidi

Dr. Rashid Khalidi speaks quickly but deliberately, never backtracking on a word or phrase once chosen. This careful manner of speech is perhaps necessary, as Dr. Khalidi is an expert in one of the most contentious contemporary topics: Palestine. Dr. Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies at Columbia University, spoke to YPFP NY members on December 2,2013, in a lecture entitled, “The Prospect for Mideast Peace.” Following the talk, he granted YPFP NY an interview to discuss his most recent two books released and the many misunderstandings surrounding the issue of Israel and Palestine.

A Conversation with Canada's Consul General John F. Prato

On June 17, 2013, Canada’s Consul General for New York John F. Prato welcomed YPFP members into his home for an exclusive Global Diplomacy Series event titled, “Moving Forward: Canada’s Changing Role in Foreign Policy.” Mr. Prato is the head of the Canadian Consulate General here in New York, representing Canada’s interests in New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. At that event in June 2013, his remarks—and the subsequent discussion with YPFP members—were so engaging and thought-provoking that YPFP NY recently sat down with Mr. Prato to hear more about his own career path, his work as Canadian Consul General and his advice to members of YPFP.

Cybersecurity Threats: A Conversation with Franz-Stefan Gady

On November 11, 2013, Mr. Franz-Stefan Gady spoke to a group of YPFP NY members and New York Law School alums at the New York Law School Center for International Law. The discussion at the event, titled “Threats to U.S. Cybersecurity: A Discussion with Franz-Stefan Gady,” addressed current cybersecurity climate and steps the United States could take to improve it. Mr. Gady is a senior fellow at the EastWest Institute and a founding member of the institute’s Worldwide Cybersecurity Initiative. A native Austrian he served for several years in the nation’s military before he earned an M.A. in Strategic Studies/International Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University. After the lecture, Mr. Gady sat down for a more in-depth interview to discuss issues related to cybersecurity, his career path and what career recommendations he would give to young professionals interested in foreign policy.

Become a Better Networker: A Conversation with Larry Sharpe of the Neo-Sage Group

Larry Sharpe is the founder of Neo-Sage Group and a Director of Improving Communications and all-around business skills expert. He has coached entrepreneurs and business students at school like Yale School of Management and Columbia’s Graduate School of Business. On October 24, 2013, Mr. Sharpe spoke to a group of YPFP NY members at the first event in the Leadership Skills Workshop Series, a set of meetings that helps YPFP members build hands-on skills for their professional advancement. The workshop was entitled “Becoming a Better Networker.”
