USISPF and the Consulate General of India (NY) in-partnership will co-host the 'New India' Lecture Series, and the fourth installment of this important forum—featuring an address by Alyssa Ayres, Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, will be held on Monday, May 21th, from 6:00pm onwards at the Indian Consulate (3 East 64th Street). This session will be moderated by Ambassador Frank Wisner, International Affairs Advisor at Squire Patton Boggs ; and Member of the Board-US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, and the lecture will be followed by a light reception. The 'New India' Lecture Series is an initiative based on Prime Minister Modi's vision of a new India by 2022. It is a monthly program that will feature an interactive session with an eminent figure in the US-India bilateral relationship. This lecture is entitled “India’s Role on World Stage.”
Alyssa Ayres is senior fellow for India, Pakistan, and South Asia at the Council on Foreign Relations where her work focuses on India’s role in the world and on U.S. relations with South Asia. Ayres served previously as deputy assistant secretary of state for South Asia from 2010 to 2013, covering all issues across a dynamic region of 1.3 billion people (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka) and providing policy direction for four U.S. embassies and four consulates. Originally trained as a cultural historian, Ayres has experience in the nonprofit, government, and private sectors, and she has carried out research on both India and Pakistan.
