Membership FAQ

How can I become a member of YPFP?

Answer:

Fill out the YPFP membership application. YPFP leadership will review your application based on your experience, interest, and motivation. Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

Who is eligible for YPFP membership?

Answer:

Young professionals and higher-level degree students with demonstrated interest and experience in foreign policy are encouraged to apply to the Young Professionals tier. Undergraduate students with the desire to gain an edge in beginning a career in foreign policy or global affairs are eligible for the Future Professional membership tier. Advanced professionals that have made a contribution to the organization would be considered for the Global Leaders tier.

How much do dues cost?

Dues vary by your branch location:
Brussels: €20
London: £20
Global, New York, and Washington, D.C.: $60 Young Professionals, $20 Future Professionals

How do I know when my annual dues will expire?

Answer:

Your membership dues are for one calendar year (365 days). When you log into the YPFP website, an alert will appear in your profile reminding you that your dues have expired. An email notification will also be sent to you.

Where does my money go?

Answer:

Member dues support higher quality programming events, more networking opportunities for our members, a new and improved website, and better membership benefits.

Why can't I register for YPFP events?

Answer:

YPFP is a member-driven organization, and only members can attend certain events depending on their tier of membership. In order to register for events, you will need to apply to become a YPFP member, pay your annual membership dues, and log-in to the YPFP website. If you have any questions about your membership status, you can email membership@ypfp.org.

Will my membership ever expire? Can it lapse?

Answer:

Once you have been accepted as a member of YPFP and paid your membership dues, you will remain a member for twelve months.  You do not need to participate in social activities or events to remain a member of YPFP.  We understand you're busy and want to make it as easy as possible to get involved again once you're ready. However, if you do not renew your dues after they expire, you will lose access to member only sections of the website and access to YPFP events. You can renew your dues online at any time to reinstate your membership.
