Margo Berends, Sustainable Development Fellow

Margo Berends is an expert in sustainable development with a strong research background in sub-Saharan Africa and program management experience in the Middle East, India, and Brazil. While earning dual degrees in Economics and Political Science, she studied abroad at Oxford University and in Benin. After graduation, she taught English in France and interned with the Africa Program at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, publishing on the Wilson Center’s Africa Up Close blog. She currently works as a Program Associate at Global Communities, where she handles of a portfolio of sixteen programs covering a variety of development themes including economic empowerment, vocational training, community development, refugee assistance, and governance.
