CTWG Pop-up Discussion: The London Attack and Persistent Asymmetric Threats

Please note this event has been cancelled.

We apologize for any inconvenience.

On Wednesday, March 22, a solo actor drove a vehicle into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before slamming into the northern perimeter fence of the UK Parliament. Wielding a knife, he then fatally wounded a police officer before being stopped by police gunfire. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) went on to claim the attacker as one of its “soldiers.”

Paris, Nice, Berlin, Brussels, and now London. These events have prompted states of emergency, security reviews, reactionary violence against minorities, and the rise of far-right groups in Europe.

Join YPFP’s Combating Terrorism Working Group (CTWG) for a NextGen discussion assessing the consequences of these attacks on Western Europe and methods to respond to and prepare for emerging and evolving asymmetric threats.
