Summer Research Internships

Future 500, a non-profit organization that works on corporate social responsibility issues, is looking for 2-3 research interns in the summer, for the following issue areas: climate change and global events.

1. Climate change - The intern will undertake in depth research on public and private policy in relation to the UN Climate Conference in Copenhagen in December. The research will become the basis of presentations to corporate partners and may be distributed to other stakeholders. We need an intern who has prior research experience or a strong interest in climate change issues. The intern will also map key stakeholders (i.e. decision-makers, environmental advocates, business groups/industries etc) and their positions on climate change.

2. Global Events - The intern(s) will undertake research on key social issues and risks for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, and the Shanghai World Exposition May-October 2010. The interns will also map key stakeholders as part of the research process.

These are work-from-home positions that offer a flexible work schedule. We are unable to offer compensation but expenses incurred during the research process will be reimbursed. Academic credit can also be arranged.

We are looking for interns who can demonstrate a high level of professionalism and time management. We require interns to be available for a weekly status update (usually via skype to reduce the cost to interns) and to reply to emails in a timely manner. Interns may also be required to participate in webinars and the preparation of these webinars. Interns may also be tasked to conduct research on related topics and/or assist in the preparation of other reports from time to time.

We will be conducting telephone interviews on a rolling basis until the positions have been filled.

If interested, please send your resume/CV and a brief writing sample to Sheila Oviedo (soviedo@future500.org).
