Staff or Associate Editor

It is published by the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR), which is a leading independent, nonprofit membership organization and nonpartisan center dedicated to producing and disseminating foreign policy ideas.Foreign Affairs publishes groundbreaking articles and insightful commentary on global politics, diplomacy, and economics from expert authors.Position Description Foreign Affairs is looking for a Staff or Associate Editor (title and salary based on experience) to join our editorial team. This is a full-time position based in New York. Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Working on both print and Web stories
  • Editing text
  • Generating story ideas
  • Assisting with administrative roles

Eligibility and Requirements 


  • Two years professional editorial experience working (ideally) with both print and web
  • Familiarity with online and print journalism
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • An academic background in International Relations or a related field (BA minimum; MA preferred)
  • A strong understanding of and a passion for foreign policy and international affairs
  • The ability to work efficiently on multiple tasks on deadline, to interact well with the entire staff, and to work flexible hours on request
  • Strong computer and web skills
