Program Associate

Position Description

The Program Associate will report to the Vice President of Programs and fill a pivotal role in a small, dynamic team that is spread across six countries. Because the team is small and innovative thinking is valued, there will be many opportunities to grow and experiment. The role includes supporting the range of program activities, such as the Placement Organization selection process, GHC’s Advising Program, Alumni events and  the various US and Africa-based workshops and retreats, including the two-week training for incoming fellows at Yale University. This role will provide many opportunities to connect and liaise with leading health organizations in Africa and the US and support a wide network of emerging leaders from around the world. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to understand how a small nonprofit operates and is excited to dive in and gain experience managing a range of functions

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist with preparations for fellow workshops and retreats throughout the year, including Training Institute at Yale University
  • Track partnership application process for renewing and new placement organizations
  • Support GHC’s Advising Program and identify strategies to cultivate advisor and fellow relationships
  • Research leadership development approaches and learnings that can inform GHC’s programming
  • Assist with alumni planning and coordination of events and activities
  • Support and liaise with Program Managers in all GHC countries, including Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Malawi and the US
  • Update and maintain all program-related materials
  • Support a range of other program activities as needed throughout the year

Eli​gibility and Requirements

  • Great organizational skills and top-notch attention to details
  • Experience working in cross-cultural communities
  • Ability to communicate and interact professionally with a variety of stakeholders, both in person and written
  • Skilled in using Excel and ability to design presentations in Powerpoint
  • Tech savviness and interest in new technologies; ability to use Google tools and other online platforms to streamline work
  • Passion for global health, social justice and service programs
  • Previous experience in nonprofit settings a plus
