Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) is committed to fostering the next generation of foreign policy leaders by providing its members with the knowledge, skills, exposure, and relationships they will need to tackle critical global challenges over the course of their careers. YPFP is a dynamic, global, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with 10,000 selected members around the world who work in all fields of international affairs. It was established in 2004, and is headquartered in Washington, DC, with branches in Brussels, London, and New York.

YPFP Research Fellowship Program:

The YPFP Fellowship Program is an intensive research training experience designed for YPFP members preparing for careers in foreign policy and international affairs. As a YPFP Research Fellow, you will be in a unique position to research topics that are central to YPFP’s worldview and translate these findings into potential solutions for challenges facing the millennial generation.  This research is designed to add to the overall foreign policy discourse, and advance YPFP’s standing within the international affairs community. YPFP’s Research Fellows Program provides you with the chance to focus on a part-time research project and the opportunity to further develop your research, writing and analytical skills.

The program fosters an understanding of the planning, discipline, and teamwork involved in researching the challenges that affect our generation. Fellows are provided with projects specifically tailored to the YPFP Research Agenda.  The research agenda establishes the critical issues, topics, and questions that YPFP believes are central to developing a narrative around, and a fact-based blueprint for, building the foreign policy leader of the future.  At the start of the fellowship, YPFP fellows will work with the director of the fellows program to create a customized work plan which outlines the specific deliverables to be completed throughout the fellowship. The fellows then spend the next six to twelve months pursuing a variety of research projects under the guidance of the program directors. Fellows will leverage their unique skill sets to complete projects which are vital to YPFP’s mission and continued success.

Fellows will receive the opportunity to publish some of their pieces and findings through YPFP, and YPFP will assist fellows in pursuing outside publications to feature their work.  Furthermore, fellows will have the opportunity to gain exposure and foster relationships with foreign policy experts at several networking opportunities.

Please note that YPFP Research Fellowships are unpaid.
