Job Description

 

The FP Group is seeking an ambitious, entrepreneurial, strategic thinker to join our Washington, DC-based sales team.  This person will be responsible for advertising and event sales for FP’s fastest-growing category and will report directly to the Vice President, International.  FP’s business team consists of talented, dynamic people from a diverse group of industries, and training and mentoring new team members is a top priority for the entire company. Job Responsibilities

 

Every day, FP’s international business team works with marquee clients to imagine, sell and execute industry-leading partnerships that fully leverage FP’s platforms, including our flagship magazine Foreign Policy; ForeignPolicy.com; FP events; and custom research.  Each partnership is uniquely tailored to client needs and we have been successful in developing long-term agreements that allow us to be truly innovative. The Director, International will work closely with the Senior Vice President, Global Advertising Sales and Vice President, International to build FP’s portfolio of global clients, including high-profile foreign governments and international corporations.  The Director will play a key role in developing the next generation of communications solutions for this category and accelerating our revenue growth.  Core responsibilities include:

  • Researching global policy and business trends and translating them into sales opportunities.

  • Identifying and cultivating senior-level relationships with current clients and prospects.

  • Developing custom programs tailored to specific client challenges.

  • Writing compelling proposals, negotiating partnership agreements, and closing deals.

 

Job Qualifications

 

  • A fast learner and unafraid of dreaming big.

  • Track record of successfully meeting ambitious goals.

  • 2-4 years of work experience, preferably in business development or sales.

  • International, media or consulting experience a definite advantage.

  • Willingness to travel extensively both internationally and domestically as needed.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills.  Must be at ease presenting ideas to C-level audiences and senior government leaders.

  • Passionate about creating new revenue streams in a changing media landscape.

  • Top academic credentials; Graduate degree in business or international affairs from a leading university preferred.
