Associate Manager, Government Transformation and Agency Partnerships

Position Description

The Associate Manager will be responsible for assisting the Government Transformation and Agency Partnerships team in managing two programs focused on helping federal agencies modernize their management systems. The Strategic Advisors to Government Executives (SAGE) program engages a community of former federal executive as subject matter experts to help advise agencies on strengthening their core management functions, and the Shared Services Roundtable program engages public and private shared services providers to develop government-wide solutions to help federal agencies better utilize shared resources. The Associate Manager will serve as the organization’s main point of contact in its work with clients, private and public. The Associate Manager will primarily work with federal professionals in the human resources, acquisition, information technology and financial management fields.

Roles and Responsibilities 

  • Organizing and managing events, from small closed-door roundtable meetings to large multi-day conferences;
  • Writing and proofreading reports and memorandums on technical management and business processes;
  • Building and managing relationships with federal executives, volunteer subject matter experts, corporate sponsors and Congressional officials to identify and develop opportunities to improve agency management systems;
  • Leading budgeting, workforce planning, strategic planning, and performance evaluation for several major programs;
  • Leading business development to identify and cultivate new fee-for-service opportunities;
  • Designing, developing and launching entrepreneurial new programs in support of the Partnership’s core mission;
  • Perform program management duties, including tracking tasks, scheduling assignments and meetings, following-up on task completion;
  • Developing expertise and providing recommendations on a variety of technical management issues affecting federal agencies;
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Eligibility and Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3-4 years of experience required (or equivalent education)
  • Passion for public service and/or federal government
  • Enthusiasm for taking initiative and being entrepreneurial in ambiguous situations
  • Skilled in relationship management and political savvy
  • Enduring focus on excellent customer service throughout all projects
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, flexible and dynamic work environment
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently, on- and off-site, and collaboratively with team members
  • Ability to conduct work in a professional and ethical manner; representing the organization in a positive way to stakeholders, customers and team members
