JobLink Director

Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) is committed to fostering the next generation of foreign policy leaders by providing its members with the knowledge, skills, exposure, and relationships they will need to tackle critical global challenges over the course of their careers. YPFP is a dynamic, global, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization with 10,000 selected members around the world who work in all fields of international affairs. It was established in 2004, and is headquartered in Washington, DC, with branches in Brussels, London, and New York.


YPFP’s JobLink team connects our talented community of young professionals with opportunities within the fields of international affairs, foreign policy, and national security and to prepare our members to advance their careers by developing the professional skills necessary to compete in today's global job market. JobLink achieves this through maintaining a robust Job Board (the #2 Google result for “foreign policy jobs”), the Resume Bank of member resumes, and by producing monthly resume workshops and quarterly career development events for YPFP members.


Position Overview

The JobLink Team Director oversees a team of Job Board & Resume Bank Managers.  The managers are tasked with daily additions of jobs and resumes to their respective databases.  Additionally, the team is responsible for going through the Resume Bank and updating the Resume Bank Analysis Spreadsheet, which identifies the backgrounds of YPFP members.  


The Director of the JobLink team is responsible for the team fulfilling its purpose as the primary professional development function of YPFP. S/he is also responsible for advancing the Job Board and Resume Bank’s revenue generation potential. S/he does this through the following responsibilities:

  • Trains and supports JobLink managers in their functions and oversees the language utilized with external partners to ensure that the offerings of JobLink are clear

  • Prepares invoices for external partners who purchase premium JobLink services and updates relevant financial trackers

  • Trains JobLink managers in consistent marketing language and tactics for selling JobLink premium services and growing the team’s products’ revenue

  • Communicates regularly with YPFP DC President and Senior Vice President(s) on ideas, initiatives, and general updates

  • Collaborates and communicates with VP, Programs on event scheduling and coordination

  • Coordinates with social media team on promoting JobLink events and general services

  • Oversees production of biweekly JobLink newsletter



  • Experience managing a team

  • Familiarity with foreign affairs career paths, particularly common areas of interest in Washington, DC (i.e. Foreign Service, federal government, contractors, nonprofits, etc)

  • Commitment to the YPFP mission and goal of raising revenue generation through JobLink

  • Ability to commit a minimum of 8 hours per week, including regularly scheduled JobLink meetings and bimonthly all-staff meetings

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Currently or soon to be a YPFP member

  • Must be based in the Washington, DC area
