An international agribusiness and shipping company seeks a paid intern to work in its Washington, D.C., government affairs office over the summer break. Domestically, the company is primarily focused on raising and processing livestock and, internationally, is one of the largest American agribusiness investors in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
Intern should expect to start towards the end of May.
Monitoring federal legislation;
Producing short issue briefs;
Drafting communications for senior staff;
Attending hearings, industry meetings, and after hours events; and,
International visa processing and other administrative duties.
The intern will also gain some direct lobbying experience.
A qualified candidate will be a rising junior or senior majoring in Political Science, Public Affairs, International Relations or other relevant field. Previous internship experience desired but not required. Hill experience a plus. Candidate must be a strong oral and verbal communicator and comfortable representing the company at events.
