Former Soviet Union Hot Spots

Join YPFP's Europe/Eurasia Discussion Group and Professors Robert Orttung and Corey Welt to discuss potential hot spots for Russian aggression in the former Soviet Union.

Professors Orttung and Welt will address the Ukraine crisis with three specific questions in mind:

1) Why is Russia willing to shoulder such cost in Ukraine, when its actions there reinforce much of the FSU's pursuit of security from Russian intervention with the west?
2) How will Ukraine find its way out of this morass?
3) What are the implications for other engineered FSU hotspots, including Transdniestr, Nagorno-Karabakh, and so on? What are we likely to see among Russian populations in the Baltics and Kazakhstan?
