Foreign Policy Professionals for Obama is excited to announce the launching of a New York City Chapter!

This event will feature Christopher Sabatini (Senior Director for Policy at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, Editor-in-Chief of Americas Quarterly and member of the Obama campaign's Latin America advisory group) as well as networking, light refreshments and a cash bar.

When: September 4, 7:30pm to 10pm
Where: 301 W. 57th Street (at 8th avenue), Manhattan, NY on the rooftop/party room overlooking Central Park.
$15 suggested donation.

Foreign Policy Professionals for Obama (FPPFO) is an independent grassroots organization of foreign policy professionals devoted to sharing and discussing Senator Obama's foreign policy programs and advancing his national security credentials. Based in Washington, DC, FPPFO is an organization which grew out of the "DC for Obama" movement and is not formally affiliated with Obama for America. With over 900 members including former ambassadors, diplomats, policy analysts, students etc. and fund-raising of $13,000, we have an amazing base of support on which to build.

Current Financial Crisis : Are Asian economies de-linked or not?

The current financial crisis has significantly impacted Asia. Not surprisingly, this weekend, its not a G-8 meeting, but a G-20 meeting, including India, China and Brazil.

Before the crisis erupted, India and China were being touted as the new "dream economies." For a while after the magnitude of the crisis started becoming evident, the economies of both countries showed some resilience, prompting commentators in Asia to point out the de-linkage in the global economy. "De-linkage" refers to a strain of thought that argues that the fate of the global economy, especially the Asian economies, is no longer inextricably linked to that of the U.S. economy.
