YPFP NY: A Global Diplomacy Series event - A Discussion on UK-U.S. Trade Relations and Foreign Policy Priorities for 2014

Please join YPFP NY for a special Global Diplomacy Series Event on trade relations between the United Kingdom and the United States and the UK's foreign policy priorities, with Mr. Danny Lopez, British Consul General New York and Director General for UK Trade & Investment USA, and Mr. Patrick Davies, OBE, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy Washington. This event is hosted by the British Consulate-General in New York with the support of the British Embassy in Washington, DC.

Mr. Lopez and Mr. Davies will discuss trade relations between the United Kingdom and the United States, focusing on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, and the UK's current foreign policy priorities as we enter 2014. Their remarks will be followed by a question and answer session, as well as a light reception with drinks and hors d'oeuvres

When: Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and remarks will begin promptly at 6:15 p.m. 

Where: British Consulate-General, located at 845 Third Avenue (between 51st and 52nd), New York, NY.

N.B. Attendees will be required to produce photo identification to gain entry to the event.   




Danny Lopez has been British Consul General in New York since 2011,  and he also is the head of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) in the United States. Before joining the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, he enjoyed a career in the private and public sectors in the UK, including ten years with Barclays and roles with UKTI and the London Development Agency. He established London & Partners while working for the Mayor of London, and sits on the boards of UKTI and BritishAmerican Business. In his spare time, he enjoys football and Formula 1. Danny is husband to Susan and proud father of Lucy.  


Patrick Davies, OBE has been Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Washington and UK Permanent Observer at the Organization of American States in September 2013. He's worked in many environments around the world, often in times of crisis or transition. He played a pivotal role in British policy making around the Arab Spring, Iran and its nuclear programme, and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. From 2000 to 2003, he was Private Secretary to Foreign Secretaries Robin Cook and Jack Straw. His postings include Rabat, Warsaw and Tehran. HM The Queen awarded Patrick the Order of the British Empire in 2012. In his spare time he enjoys tennis, singing, and camping. 





The Global Diplomacy Series offers YPFP NY members the opportunity to engage with the most distinguished diplomatic representatives in New York, including diplomats from permanent missions, consulates, and embassies. Discussions will typically be off-the-record, open to a limited number of attendees, and take place at the relevant embassy, residence, or cultural office.
