YPFP NY: The Doctrine of R2P - Creation and Application
Please join YPFP NY on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, for an event to discuss the doctrine of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P) with Dr. Simon Adams, executive executive director of the Global Centre for R2P.
R2P has emerged as a significant human rights principle following its adoption at the UN World Summit in 2005. Many of the conflicts currently unfolding around the globe are fueled by ethnic and sectarian tensions. When does the international community have an obligation to intervene to prevent atrocities?
At this event, YPFP NY will discuss the creation and current application of the R2P doctrine with Dr. Adams. Following Dr. Adams' remarks, there will be time for questions and answers, with a drinks and networking reception to follow.
