YPFP Ambassador Series: Celebrating Polish Foreign Policy
We are pleased to invite you to an Ambassador Series event with His Excellency Witold Sobków, Poland’s representative to the Court of St James’s.
25 years after the fall of communism, 15 years after joining NATO, and 10 years after Poland’s accession to the European Union, the country has established itself as an economic and diplomatic powerhouse in Central and Eastern Europe and a pivotal player in the EU decision making process.
Celebrating the country’s great anniversaries, His Excellency will give a keynote speech on Poland’s way to and role in the EU and NATO, and provide an assessment of his country’s strategic priorities in the years to come.
Mr Sobków returned to London as Ambassador in August 2012, having first served in the UK as Deputy Head of Mission 1993-2000. Prior to his current London posting, he was Poland’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations where he was closely involved in disarmament negotiations. During his long and distinguished diplomatic career, he co-authored the EU’s Eastern Partnership Initiative, served four years as Ambassador in Ireland and headed several departments at the Polish Foreign Ministry. He was educated at Warsaw, Stanford and Harvard universities, among others.
The Polish Embassy has kindly agreed to sponsor a wine reception following the event.
