Political Risk 101

Munish Puri will present an overview of the profession, history, industry, and trends of political risk. For those interested in a career in political risk, Munish will provide advice on which practical skills, coursework, and experience create strong candidates, as well as tips for using social media to develop one's craft and brand as an analyst. Here's a list of questions that will be addressed during the session:

  • What are the elements of political risk analysis and consulting? What skills are required and desirable for succeeding in this profession?
  • Which organizations produce and consumer this type of analysis? What is the industry landscape and major industry trends?
  • What is the role of emerging technology -- social media and big data -- in assessing political risk?


Munish is a Geopolitical Risk Consultant and Open-Source Intelligence Trainer for Presearch Consulting in Washington, DC. He also serves as a Community Manager for the professional network Managing Political Risk and is a co-founder and advisory board member of the Fletcher Political Risk Forum.. In the past, he has worked as an independent consultant on matters of political risk, international business strategy and social media in New York, London and Johannesburg.
