Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Brussels invites you to join us on Thursday 26 September 2013 at the Permanent Mission of Italy to the EU for an evening discussion with His Excellency Ambassador Stefano Sannino. Ambassador Sannino will be sharing his thoughts on the current developments in the EU agenda. We will discuss the outlook on the economic crisis, better understanding the point of view of one of the most affected countries. Ambassador Sannino will also give us insights on the preparation work needed to take on the EU presidency semester and we will learn about the priorities of the Italian presidency in the second half of 2014. Moreover, building on his experience as Director General of DG Enlargement, Ambassador Sannino will shed some light on the future of the EU enlargement process after the accession of the 28th Member State last June.

Ambassador Sannino will offer YPFP members his advices on pursuing an international relations career, drawing on his own vast and valuable experience as a diplomat for Italy and as an high level EU official. After the discussion the Italian Mission to the EU will generously provide a cocktail reception for the YPFP members.

Ambassador Sannino served for a long time at the European Commission in Brussels before being appointed as Permanent Representative of Italy to the European Union in July 2013. He was member of the Cabinet of the President of the Commission (2002-2004) and soon after he joined the Directorate General for External Relations as Director for Management of Crisis and as Representative to the PSC (2004-2006). He then became Director for Latin America (2008-2009) and Deputy Director General for Asia and Latin America (2009-2010). In 2010 he moved to the Directorate General for Enlargement first as Deputy Director General and then as Director General, until June 2013.
