Detica - Research Analyst (PA&E)

Job Description: DeticaDFI is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, and well-organized individual for the position of Research Analyst. The research analyst will undertake research and analysis critical for all products and client services of DeticaDFI, but will bring specialized skills in quantitative analytics and risk analysis to augment outstanding communication abilities.  The applicant will also bring a strong interest homeland security policy and a basic familiarity with the Department of Homeland Security and its component entities

Responsibilities:

  • Gathering and cataloging data,
  • Providing analysis, insight and recommendations,
  • Preparing briefing slides and reports, organizing focus groups, and
  • Performing general administrative and analytical tasks as needed for government clients.

Required Skills: DeticaDFI Research Analysts are entry-level professional staff who possess strong academic credentials, a solid understanding of research and analytical skills and techniques, and a keen awareness of homeland security and emergency management policy and developments. The successful candidate must possess superior analytical skills, be a strong writer, have excellent oral communication skills, and demonstrate proficiency with core software and Internet research tools.

Required Experience: The successful applicant will have coursework or professional experience with quantitative methods and analysis, with an interest in applying these skills to problems in homeland security risk analysis and risk management.  The applicant will also bring at a minimum, an undergraduate degree in a hard science (e.g., physics, engineering) or some other quantitative area of study (e.g., mathematics, economics).

Knowledge of SAS, Excel, or other statistical or modeling software is desirable.

Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies is desirable. This position includes supporting program evaluation design, implementation, data collection, preparation, risk analysis, and risk management. Strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills required. Excellent writing skills are required, including the ability to synthesize and present detailed program data concerning evaluation and risk methodologies.

Security Clearance: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Years of Experience/ Level of Education: Less than 1 Year Level of Education: 4-Year Degree in a quantitative field.
