Detica is seeking a talented, highly motivated, and well-organized individual for the position of Research Analyst within the Counterterrorism practice area. Research Analysts are entry-level professionals who undertake research and analysis tasks critical to Detica’s counterterrorism client programs.
The Research Analyst will be responsible for:
- Researching and analyzing policy, legislation, real-world incidents, and official and non-official studies and reports related to terrorism;
- Contributing to the development of national security policy and programs, with a particular focus on counterterrorism strategy and planning;
- Providing insight and recommendations to Detica management;
- Preparing briefing slides, writing reports, and delivering presentations to Detica staff and clients;
- Conducting outreach to client stakeholders; and
- Performing general administrative tasks.
Required Skills: Research Analysts in the Counterterrorism practice area come from diverse backgrounds but share exceptional academic credentials, inquisitive intellects, problem-solving skills, and a keen awareness of international terrorism, security policy, and government affairs. Ideal candidates will also possess outstanding writing and research skills and demonstrate proficiency with core software and Internet research tools. Many project tasks are high visibility and require quick turnaround; the candidate will be willing and able to work in a fast-paced, team environment with self-initiative, attention to detail, and limited supervision.
Distinguished candidates may also possess one or more of the following characteristics:
§ Experience conducting research on terrorist organizations and/or operations;
§ Foreign language skills in Middle Eastern, Central Asian, or other relevant languages;
§ Familiarity with strategic planning, risk assessment, and/or operations management methodologies;
§ Work experience supporting national security, counterterrorism, or government affairs-related organizations.
Security Clearance: None required, but SECRET or higher preferred. Applicant(s) selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Level of Education: BA/BS required; MA/MS preferred.
