Damir Kurtagic is a Europe Fellow at Young Professionals in Foreign Policy. Damir earned his BA in International Relations from Carleton College, and his MA in Advanced International Studies from Diplomatic Academy in Vienna as a Rotary Scholar. The focus of his studies were EU foreign policy, particularly in the Balkans region, international development policy and transatlantic relations, while he focused on democratization and U.S Foreign Policy. During his BA, he also completed a study abroad semester in Copenhagen, where he studied international humanitarian law. He spent the early portion of his career in the development sector, working for UNDP in Bosnia & Herzegovina and UNIDO HQ in Vienna. For the past year and a half, he lives in Brussels, and closely follows EU developments. He previously worked at an EU institution- the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC)- and a EU Commission-funded development project. He also won an essay competition organized by the World Bank and IFC on youth unemployment in Bosnia and has written policy papers in the EESC. Damir is a 2017 Humanity in Action Fellow, having completed the Amsterdam programme.
