In the most recent demonstration of violent extremism, Paris suffered a devastating complex and coordinated attack on Friday evening that rocked the French capital and solicited an outpouring of solidarity from the Western world. The synchronized attack in France occurred while the Lebanese capital of Beirut reeled from a pair of suicide bombings that hit the city Thursday and killed dozens. Meanwhile, Russia deals with the aftermath of a a downed passenger jet over Egypt last week. Each series of attacks was claimed by the Islamic State.
The world's heads of state as well as top foreign policy and security leaders now race to reevaluate strategy and policy towards the Islamic State--a threat now resonating as a global risk to peace and security.
Join YPFP's Combating Terrorism Discussion Group for a public* pop-up event to discuss the current dialogue around counter-terrorism strategies in the aftermath of Paris, Beirut and the Russian airliner. How should the world address the increasing reach of the Islamic State and what, if anything, should young people be doing? This event will be moderated.
