Gary Barnabo, President
Gary Barnabo is the President of Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, where he established the research program in 2010. As a member of YPFP’s executive leadership team, Barnabo is engaged in all aspects of YPFP’s day-to-day operations. His leadership focus areas are on long-term strategic planning, organizational efficiency, staff recruitment and development, and positioning YPFP as a thought leader in the foreign policy community through the creation of intellectual capital that explores the intersection of the Millennial generation and future foreign policy. Barnabo is directly responsible for overseeing more than 40 volunteers across five departments. Barnabo’s responsibilities also include developing innovative ideas and approaches for ensuring the sustainability and growth of the organization, devising strategies for communicating YPFP’s identity and value proposition to the organization’s stakeholders, and uniting YPFP’s staff around mission-driven initiatives. As YPFP's first Director of Research, Barnabo built a new team that seeks to define the critical leadership characteristics of future foreign policy leaders, understand how the Millennial generation is affecting the foreign policy landscape, and posit new approaches for how that generation can understand, address, and solve critical global challenges. Barnabo is an associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, a management and technology consulting firm. He works with clients in the defense and national security community on all aspects of developing, implementing, and analyzing policy and strategy designed to address complex security challenges. Barnabo graduated cum laude from the University of Notre Dame. He was raised in Sydney, Australia.
