Please come and enjoy classical and traditional Korean music performance by special orchestra and choir -- and bring your extra flash drives. The concert is dedicated to promoting peaceful unification of the Korean peninsula, organized to remind Korean-Americans of the Forgotten War, express unforgotten gratitude to veterans of the UN forces and combatant nations, and shed light on North Korean realities and humanitarian crises.
In addition to orchestra and choir performances, Jessica Ernest (cast of The Producer, Broadway musical; she has been in Chicago, Big Fish, Catch Me If You Can, and Big Fish) as well as Brian Kim (in production of Les Miserables, Flower Drum Song, Mulan, 42nd Street, Beauty and the Beast, and more) will sing three hit Broadway songs.
Ernest and Kim are be with EnoB, a community-based nonprofit organization dedicated to serving socio-economically disadvantages groups (i.e hospitalized, disabled) through musical concerts and entertainment events.
The Korean-American community further hopes that the donations of used USBs will bolster information access for North Koreans. Flashdrives for Freedom is a project recently initiated by the Human Rights Foundation in New York and Forum 280 whose aim is to collect flash drives to give to North Korean, refugee-led organizations. Each year, these groups collectively smuggle fewer than 10,000 flash drives.
